Demand the removal of Hessequa municipal manager Mr. Albert de Klerk

Hessequa Municipality, an area known for its beautiful landscapes and vibrant communities, deserves leadership that upholds law, equality, and integrity. However, recent actions by the Municipal Manager, Mr. de Klerk, have highlighted a worrying trend of unlawful discrimination and abuse of power – unsettling the community and undermining public trust.
Reports have surfaced detailing incidents where Mr. de Klerk has allegedly engaged in practices that not only violate legal and ethical standards but also compromise the dignity and rights of employees and residents. Claims of favouritism, discriminatory practices in employment, and manipulative tactics to silence dissent are troubling to bear. Such allegations are not mere grievances but reflect systemic issues that could have far-reaching impacts on the governance and morale of the Hessequa Municipality.
Transparency International notes that corruption and power abuse are critical issues affecting local administrations worldwide, leading to a lack of trust in government institutions. Mr. de Klerk's actions, as reported, fall in line with these concerning trends, leaving a black mark on Hessequa's reputation.
The municipal manager's role is not only administrative but also deeply influential in setting the tone for ethical governance. Mr. de Klerk’s continued position risks eroding the foundational trust that residents and stakeholders have in their municipal government’s ability to act fairly and justly.
In light of this, the residents and stakeholders of Hessequa call upon the Hessequa Municipality Council, the respective councillors from the DA, VF Plus, PA, and ANC, as well as SALGA Western Cape, and the Public Protector of South Africa to take immediate and decisive action. We urge these bodies to thoroughly investigate these allegations and remove Mr. de Klerk from his position to ensure accountability and restore public faith.
Our community cannot thrive under leadership that does not embody the values of fairness, justice, and respect for all. We need leaders who will champion the rights and prosperity of every individual within our boundary, without bias or prejudice.
