As deeply concerned US citizens, we are distressed over the unjust imprisonment of an innocent man, Frengel Reyes Mota. Currently, Frengel Reyes Mota is confined in the infamous CECOT center in El Salvador. This center has a grim reputation for its horrific conditions, and the absence of any evidence or criminal record against Frengel makes this situation even more intolerable. The ordeal that Frengel and his family are going through shakes us to our core, prompting us to take action against this injustice. Frengel has a wife, a son and a faithful dog named Sacha. He is now in a cruel overcrowded prison being treated inhumanely, missing his family and suffering greatly as a result of deeply flawed fast-tracking policies that imprison individuals without trial. He must be brought back to his family in United States to finish his legal asylum process.

We must remember that a cornerstone of justice is presumed innocence until proven guilty. This principle is internationally recognized, seen in Article 11 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Yet, in the case of Frengel Reyes Mota, we see a gross violation of this principle. There is more than reasonable doubt that he is associated with any know gangs. Let us come together and raise our voice, urging the Department of National Security to reconsider the cases of unjustly imprisoned individuals like Frengel.
