The Issue

Today, countless parents at Farmdale Elementary School received a shocking notice from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD): beloved kindergarten teacher, Ms. Ana Eckert, will no longer be instructing our children. For over a decade, Ms. Eckert has been more than just a teacher; she has been a cornerstone of our academic community, nurturing young minds and laying strong educational foundations.

The transition from kindergarten to the rest of a child’s educational journey is crucial. Teachers like Ms. Eckert, with her unmatched dedication and passion, play a pivotal role in ensuring our children start their academic life on a strong note. Her departure not only disrupts the continuity of learning but also threatens the stable environment where our children flourish.

Furthermore, Ms. Eckert's contributions go beyond the classroom. She currently serves as the President of the School Site Council offering critical leadership to that team. Her absence will leave a significant void as the School Site Council prepares for the 27-28 budget development.

We believe that the decision to remove Ms. Eckert was made in error. The numbers are clear there are enough students in Ms. Eckerts kindergarten class to keep her at Farmdale for this school year.

Evidence clearly shows that when children have stable learning environments, especially during their formative years, they perform better academically and socially. Ms. Eckert represents that stability.

As concerned parents and community members, we urge LAUSD to reconsider their decision and reinstate Ms. Ana Eckert to her position at Farmdale Elementary School.

Sign the petition now to stand in solidarity with Ms. Eckert, ensuring continuity and quality education at Farmdale Elementary.
