Hey all, thank you so much for signing the petition. Our intention in creating it was to make a space where folks could publicly express their concerns regarding the stated issues. I am appreciative of you using it. 

The Mountaineers have seen the petition. We are encouraging them to listen to folks who come forward and consider our action items:

• Vet new members in order to identify who in their organization is a Registered Sex Offender or who has a history of domestic/sexual violence.
  • Consider including Background Check fees as part of membership.
• Hold members accountable for violating their Prohibited Behavior Policy.
• Remove members when membership status conflicts with their core values and/or policies.
• Commit to protecting those who report violence.

There have been some screenshots passed around about who and when someone may have been removed from the Mountaineers. But its ultimately hard to verify because the Mountaineers have not made any public statements. We are continuing to check back with members who complained initially to see if they've been notified of any membership updates.

We know that Nicolas Clerc's member profile is no longer visible. We also know AJ Blankenship is banned from attending events. While these are steps in the right direction, our ask is that members are VETTED up front (uncovering any sexual or domestic violence convictions beforehand) and that members who violate policy are REMOVED from their memberships. This means removal of their membership status, not just 'banned' from attending events. Additionally, we ask that stronger commitment to protecting members in general be made. It is not acceptable to permit convicted pedophiles to participate without any prior disclosure to others nor any restrictions on where they go and who they interact with. Its dangerous.
