Demand the Inclusion of a South African Formula 1 Grand Prix
The Issue
As an ardent fan and supporter of Formula 1 racing, I find it disheartening that South Africa, a country with such rich motorsport history, does not host its own Grand Prix. Our very own Lewis Hamilton has expressed his enthusiasm for a South African Grand Prix stating it would be "amazing" to have one here. This sentiment is echoed by countless other South Africans who are passionate about the sport and yearn to experience this exhilarating event on home soil.
South Africa has previously hosted the Formula 1 World Championship in Kyalami from 1967 to 1985 and again in 1992 and 1993. The events were highly successful, drawing large crowds and contributing significantly to our local economy (source: FIA). There is no reason why we cannot replicate this success today.
Moreover, hosting a Grand Prix would provide an excellent opportunity for tourism growth, job creation, as well as global recognition for our country's sporting prowess. With the right infrastructure and support from government bodies, we can make this dream a reality.
We urge the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and relevant stakeholders to consider our plea seriously. Let us bring back the roar of engines to Kyalami or any other suitable location within our beautiful nation. Sign this petition if you believe in bringing Formula One back home – let's make it happen!
