The U.S. Department of Justice just filed a Statement of Interest in a lawsuit against NY State’s CDPAP changes. They’re officially concerned that:
1. Thousands of patients and caregivers may be losing services or payments during the forced switch to a single company (PPL) running the program.
2. New York may have misled patients and caregivers by promising no disruption—yet many are struggling or left without care.
3. Private health data might’ve been shared without proper consent, possibly violating HIPAA laws.
The DOJ is stepping in to make sure vulnerable New Yorkers aren’t harmed and that the CDPAP program follows federal law.
They’re watching this case closely—and so should we. Let’s keep raising our voices and protecting this vital program!
