Residents of Fayette County and parents within the Laurel Highlands School District are calling for the immediate resignation of Superintendent Dr. Jesse Wallace.

On March 19, 2026, a Laurel Highlands High School teacher was charged with serious crimes involving a student, including attempted institutional sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, and corruption of minors. While the individual has been removed, this incident is not viewed as isolated—it is the final straw.

Over the past decade, there have been numerous reported incidents involving staff misconduct and/or arrests within the district. These repeated issues have created a growing concern among parents and community members that problems are not being addressed with the level of transparency, urgency, and accountability required to ensure student safety.

The role of Superintendent carries the responsibility of protecting students, enforcing safeguards, and maintaining public trust. That trust has been broken.

New leadership committed to transparency and accountability

An independent review of district policies and administrative oversight
