Every day, my family, friends, and I risk our lives driving on State Road 710. This road has become increasingly dangerous especially between Allapatah Road & the Okeechobee County Line. There have been six tragic fatalities occurring within just 24 hours. Since 2022, approximately 1,000 crashes have plagued Warfield Blvd. Officers have issued over 3,200 tickets in just 365 days, yet these measures aren't enough. It's clear that the expansion of this road to four lanes is not just necessary, but imperative to ensure our safety and allow us to return home to our loved ones each day.

The county’s rapid population growth and the substantial increase in traffic have not been matched by improvements to our highway infrastructure. This failure to expand State Road 710 has left us commuting on a deadly and outdated road that desperately needs an upgrade. Decoy patrol vehicles and ticketing are temporary fixes, but they don't address the core issue: the need for a larger, safer highway.

The four-lane expansion will provide the necessary space for safely passing other vehicles, avoiding wildlife on the road, and ensuring that the daily commute does not endanger lives. Many commuters share this road, and it has become clear that the lack of county funds should not be an excuse for the continued loss of life. Our community’s safety must be prioritized NOW!!!
