As a deeply worried American citizen, I have watched with dread over the past month as I witness what I believe to be our democracy disassembling fragment by fragment under the current regime.

Not only am I patriot of this country, but I also hold a passion for Ukraine and its people. The manner in which our 'leaders' have handled our relationship with President Zelenskyy is completely unjust and outrageous.

Our recent vote at the United Nations on February 24 against advancing a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in Ukraine instills an unprecedented level of outrage in me.  How can we allow ourselves to align with a known terrorist, such as Russia, with a leader who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes?  How did we go from consistently voting with our European and global allies to voting with Belarus, North Korea, and Russia?  It is obscene and this is not the America any of us have known!

Furthermore, the United States risks complete alienation from our global partners due to the very recent positioning of our country as an ally of the aggressor state, Russia.  Many Americans, including the regime and its supporters in particular, seem to have conveniently forgotten the Budapest Memorandum of 1994, where Ukraine was asked to relinquish their nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees by the United States in the event that Russia would try to invade Ukraine. 

In 2014, Russia illegally annexed Ukrainian territory and three years ago to this day, Russia launched a full-scale invasion.  It is not only our obligation to protect Ukraine, it is our moral duty.  Yet the Trump regime chooses to treat the honorable Ukrainian president like a second-class citizen or a nuisance to move out of the way, while propping up Vladimir Putin as some kind of idol.  

President Donald Trump's ostensibly treasonous actions in recent weeks call for immediate investigation and impeachment.  Not only must he be impeached, he must also be removed from office.  He has already been impeached twice, which evidently has led to little to no consequence.

Moreover, the chaos instigated by Elon Musk's involvement in DOGE has had detrimental effects, contributing to an unsettling atmosphere in our government. Thousands of people are being laid off and furloughed due to Musk's claim that he is 'cutting waste' -- however, the reality is that Musk is dismantling the agencies who are investigating him.  Who is stopping him?  As of now, it seems as though he has been given a free pass to do whatever he wants, while our essential government agencies are being 'fed to the woodchipper', as he so proudly boasted in recent weeks.  As a result, we will be left with little to no protection from threat, nor will we have the services that thousands of people rely on just to survive.  

As an American who has stood proudly with our country even throughout some darker periods, I am thoroughly disgusted and ashamed of where we are now.  I know for sure that I am not alone.

We demand that Elon Musk be fired from his position at DOGE.

We demand that Donald Trump be impeached and removed from office.

If we are to save our country, Congress must act NOW before it is too late.
