Thanks for your support in fighting back on FPUA. Here's an update on what is going on.

FPUA has been blaming natural gas prices for the high bills.

The problem with their story is that they pushed TWO rate hikes of 10% in April and May while natural gas prices were already surging. 

They already saw these high prices and decided it was a great time to increase water/sewer and electric bills by 10%.

The worst part is there's another hidden increase. The new higher rates are subject to taxes, fees, and surcharges as well. It's a hike for FPUA AND the City of Fort Pierce.

Because the people of Fort Pierce united against FPUA they have reacted and lowered the PCA cost by $40 per 1,000 kilowatt hours of usage. It makes you wonder why didn't they do so before? 

How can the blame be on high natural gas prices if they have $40 to cut off an average bill? After raising our rates during surging prices. 

The bottom line is their rates, fees, and adjustments are all too high. 

In 6 weeks they cut $40 off the bills for 49,000 customers by lowering the power cost adjustment. That is $1,960,000 in customers overpaying for the PCA in just one month. If they can cut almost $2 million in a single month, just how bad are they ripping us off regularly?

FPUA is not looking out for the ratepayers. 

What's Next?

We aren't going to let this issue be swept under the rug by City Hall or TCPalm. 

We are taking the next steps and getting the necessary tax IDs and filing of organization papers to start referendums so we can lower rates.

Together we can make rates affordable and get rid of FPUA.
