The letter below has been sent to the 16 Countries that are part of the The Confederation of Fire Protection Associations Europe -CFPA-Europe and to the Secretariat of Fire Safe Europe - firesafeeurope.eu and Fire Safety Services (FSS) Ltd. In an effort to put an end to preventable fires around the world, over the following weeks this letter will be sent to Fire Safety Service groups, Fire Safety Organizations and Fire Safety Code Regulators across the globe. I thank all of you that have signed the petition and have made comments on the petition expressing your concerns. To All Concerned Please read the petition linked below and comments from concerned citizens to be sent to fire safety authorities and advocates around the world along with the following petition letter. Letter to The Confederation of Fire Protection Associations Europe (CFPA-Europe fire safe europe.eu Fire Safety Code Regulators in U.K. / U.S. / Worldwide The supporters of this petition Demand Fire Codes For Fire Suppression Systems In All Habitable Structures and a ban on all flammable panels on all buildings regardless of height in U.K. , U.S. and worldwide. Grenfell Tower fire was one of many fires that had fatalities due to no active fire suppression system in place and one of several involving flammable panels that were prohibited for buildings over 18 meters by U.K. codes that evidently were not enforced. Gas main piping was routed without any fire blocking in place through the only stairwell occupants could use to escape. Many other safety violations were brought to the attention of Grenfell Tower management by the Grenfell Action Group long before the fire and went ignored. Stronger Fire Safety codes requiring active fire suppression systems in all habitable structures need to be written that include stiff penalties for safety violations and prison sentences should fatalities take place due to fire safety violations being broken and unenforced in order to prevent such tragic fires from continuing to take place as they have for well over a century since fire sprinklers were invented but often excluded due to added costs. The cost of fire damage, relocation of occupants and lawsuits settlements to fire victims of Grenfell Tower will cost far more than what the cost of fire suppression system would have cost just as it did for the MGM Grand Fire in Las Vegas Nevada in 1980 and several other fires. Please read the petition for more details and help bring the long over due changes to fire safety codes in order to stop these tragic and preventable fires from happening in the future. Please forward this petition to as many of your fire safety contacts and authorities, friends and relatives on social media forums and via email as possible. https://www.change.org/p/u-k-and-e-u-fire-code-departments-demand-fire-codes-for-fire-suppression-systems-in-all-habitable-structures-in-u-k-u-s-8d0f21a2-6452-4a8b-bab1-8eed578067d4?source_location=minibar Sign the Petition www.change.org U.K. and E.U. Fire Code Departments : Demand Fire Codes For Fire Suppression Systems In All Habitable Structures In U.K. / U.S. The Grenfell Tower fire clearly proved once again that fire safety codes and enforcement of those codes has been inefficient and continues to place lives at risk as it has for decades across the globe. It is our hope your fire safety organization will work with us to help put an end to preventable fires in UK, US and globally. We look forward to your reply, signatures and comments on the petition.
