Demand TFL to Modernize Congestion Charge Dispute Process

Demand TFL to Modernize Congestion Charge Dispute Process
The Issue
The current process of disputing a congestion charge issued by Transport for London (TFL) is outdated and burdensome. It requires individuals to write a physical letter, which can be difficult for those who lack the time, resources, or physical ability. This method is not only inconvenient but also seems designed to discourage disputes and increase revenue for TFL. In contrast, Dart Charge offers an online dispute system that is much more accessible and user-friendly.
This disparity in dispute processes between two major transport bodies is unjustifiable. It's important to note that in our digital age, 90% of UK adults use the internet daily (Office for National Statistics). Therefore, it's reasonable to expect public services like TFL to provide modernized methods of communication.
The requirement for physical letters also raises environmental concerns as paper usage contributes significantly towards deforestation and carbon emissions. According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), paper waste accounts for 25% of landfill waste.
We believe it's high time TFL updated its dispute process in line with other organizations such as Dart Charge. We urge them not only consider the convenience of their users but also their responsibility towards our environment.
Please sign this petition if you agree that TFL should modernize its congestion charge dispute process by allowing email or online support options.
