ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: A National Petition to the President, Prime Minister, and Government of India for Stronger Laws Against Sexual Violence
To:

The Hon'ble President of India
The Hon'ble Prime Minister of India
The Hon'ble Union Minister of Home Affairs
The Hon'ble Union Minister of Law and Justice
The Hon'ble Union Minister of Women and Child Development
The Members of Parliament, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha
The National Commission for Women
All concerned authorities responsible for women's safety, justice, and legal reform
Our Appeal: Protect Every Woman. Deliver Justice. End Sexual Violence.
Enough is enough.

We have lost too many sisters to the devastating realities of sexual violence in India. Countless women and girls have endured sexual harassment, assault, and rape, while survivors and their families continue to face the emotional, psychological, and social consequences of these crimes.

For many, the pursuit of justice becomes another painful struggle — marked by prolonged legal proceedings, inadequate support, fear of retaliation, and institutional negligence.

No woman should have to fight endlessly to be heard. No survivor should be made to feel abandoned by the very institutions established to protect her.

We are calling upon the highest constitutional offices and lawmakers of India to take urgent, meaningful, and decisive action.

This petition is a collective appeal to the President of India, the Prime Minister, Parliament, and the concerned ministries to review and strengthen existing laws, improve the criminal justice system, and ensure that perpetrators of sexual violence are held accountable.

OUR SIX URGENT DEMANDS
1. Life Imprisonment for Sexual Harassment and Serious Sexual Offences
We demand significantly stronger punishment for sexual harassment, molestation, stalking, and other forms of sexual abuse, including life imprisonment for clearly defined serious and repeated offences.

Sexual harassment is not a joke, a minor inconvenience, or something women should be expected to tolerate. It can cause lasting psychological trauma and rob women of their freedom, confidence, and sense of safety.

We urge lawmakers to review existing penalties and introduce stricter, proportionate punishments that reflect the seriousness of these offences.

2. Death Penalty for Rape
We call upon the Government of India and Parliament to consider the death penalty for rape, particularly aggravated rape and cases involving extreme brutality.

We demand a comprehensive review of existing sentencing provisions to ensure that convicted perpetrators face the strongest penalties available under law, alongside fair trials, reliable evidence, and safeguards against wrongful convictions.

A woman's dignity, bodily autonomy, and right to live safely must never be compromised.

3. Fast-Track Trials and Time-Bound Justice
Justice delayed can prolong the suffering of survivors and their families.

We demand adequately resourced fast-track courts, prompt investigations, time-bound judicial proceedings, and regular monitoring of cases involving sexual violence.

Survivors should not have to wait years for their cases to be heard. The justice system must function with urgency, sensitivity, and accountability.

4. Strict Accountability for Institutional Negligence
Every institution responsible for protecting women must be held accountable for its actions and failures.

We demand strict consequences for officials who deliberately refuse to register complaints, obstruct investigations, mishandle evidence, intimidate survivors, or fail to perform their legal duties.

No position, influence, or institutional authority should shield anyone from accountability.

5. Comprehensive Protection and Support for Survivors
Justice must extend beyond punishment.

We demand accessible mental health services, legal assistance, financial support, witness protection, medical care, and rehabilitation for survivors of sexual violence.

Survivors must be protected from intimidation, retaliation, victim-blaming, and further harassment throughout the legal process.

Every survivor deserves dignity, compassion, and the opportunity to rebuild her life.

6. Stronger Prevention, Education, and Public Accountability
Punishment alone cannot eliminate sexual violence.

We call for stronger awareness programmes, gender-sensitivity education, institutional safeguards, and public campaigns that challenge the normalization of harassment and abuse.

Schools, colleges, workplaces, public institutions, and law enforcement agencies must actively contribute to creating safer environments for women and girls.

The responsibility for preventing sexual violence must never be placed solely on women.

OUR DIRECT APPEAL TO THE LEADERSHIP OF INDIA
To the Hon'ble President of India: We respectfully request that this petition and its demands be brought to the attention of the appropriate constitutional authorities and considered through the available channels for legislative and institutional reform.

To the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India: We urge your leadership in initiating a comprehensive review of women's safety laws, strengthening enforcement mechanisms, and directing the concerned ministries to take meaningful action.

To the Hon'ble Ministers of Home Affairs, Law and Justice, and Women and Child Development: We call upon your respective ministries to examine these demands, identify gaps in existing protections, and propose concrete legislative, administrative, and judicial reforms.

To the Members of Parliament: We urge you to raise these concerns, deliberate on stronger legal protections, and pursue reforms that place women's safety, dignity, and access to justice at the centre of national priorities.

To the National Commission for Women and other relevant institutions: We request continued scrutiny of institutional failures, stronger survivor support mechanisms, and recommendations for effective legal and policy reform.

WHY YOUR SIGNATURE MATTERS
This petition is a collective demand from citizens who refuse to accept sexual violence, institutional indifference, or prolonged denial of justice as inevitable.

By signing, you are supporting a call for stronger legal protections, stricter accountability, faster justice, and comprehensive support for survivors.

We want every woman and girl in India to be able to study, work, travel, speak, and live without fear of sexual violence.

We want survivors to be heard, protected, and treated with dignity.

We want institutions to act when women seek help.

And we want perpetrators to face meaningful legal consequences.

The safety of women is not a privilege. Justice is not a favour. Protection is a responsibility.

We respectfully call upon the President of India, the Prime Minister, Parliament, and all concerned authorities to acknowledge this public appeal and take concrete steps towards stronger protections against sexual violence.

SIGN THIS PETITION. STAND FOR JUSTICE. DEMAND CHANGE.
For every woman who deserves to live without fear.

For every survivor who deserves justice.

For every girl whose future must be safer than our present.

Enough is enough.
