I am a resident of General Trias, Cavite, Philippines. Every day, I witness the heartbreaking sight of abandoned dogs and cats crying out for help from the sides of our roads. Puppies that have just been born are left in tall grasses to fend for themselves. This cruel abandonment is not only heart-wrenching but also a serious issue that needs immediate attention.

In our community alone, countless beloved pets are discarded without care or consideration for their well-being. These innocent creatures are forced to survive on their own on the harsh streets without any protection or support.

The Philippines has laws against animal cruelty under The Animal Welfare Act of 1998 (Republic Act No. 8485), but it seems these laws aren't enough or aren't being enforced effectively to prevent such heartless acts.

We urge local authorities in General Trias to take stronger action against those who abandon animals and leave them helpless on our streets. We also call upon them to establish more robust pet adoption programs that can provide these animals with loving homes they deserve.
