Demand Starlink to Allow Activation of Purchased Devices in Lagos, Nigeria

The Issue

My name is one of many that have been stuck in a frustrating situation with Starlink. Over a year ago, I purchased a Starlink unit in Lagos, Nigeria, only to soon find out that I could not activate it. A year has turned into a cycle of disappointment, with the ever-repeated message that my location is 'out of capacity'. Let me highlight that I am not alone. This includes numerous others who, like me, paid a premium price for their devices to third-party vendors, anxiously waiting to enjoy what they rightfully should.

Indeed, lagging behind digital advancement is not unfamiliar to the African continent. A report by GSMA Intelligence estimated that only 24% of Africa's population would be using the internet by 2025. By preventing activation of purchased devices, Starlink places an additional hardship on those of us who were already struggling with limited connectivity.

The need for internet connection in today's world cannot be overstated. It is the backbone of communication, education, healthcare, business, and numerous other critical sectors. By disallowing device activation in locations like Lagos, Starlink is indirectly depriving us of these benefits, despite having paid for them.

We call upon Starlink to rectify this situation and allow us to activate our purchased devices in Lagos, Nigeria. Doing so will not only fulfill the promise of the product we purchased, but it will also help bridge the digital divide that we are battling on the African continent.

Let's help bring this much-needed change. Let's sign the petition to demand that Starlink provide a solution to their customers in Lagos, Nigeria. We have waited long enough. It's time to act.
