Demand Sony Pictures, MGM, and Kimberly Peirce to Release Director's Cut of Carrie

The Issue

I, like countless others, cherished the film Carrie. My love for the film transcends the surface level. You see, I contend with personal battles of autism and mental health issues. My relationship with cinema has allowed me an escape, a sanctuary of sorts. The discovery that there exists a director's cut of Carrie was bittersweet. To know there's more of a film I adore capable of offering deeper solace is incredible. However, the fact it remains unseen is heartbreaking. That's why I'm reaching out today, to demand that Sony Pictures, MGM, and Kimberly Peirce release the director's cut of Carrie.

We aren't alone in this demand. Out of the 39,518 reviews on IMDB, many express a similar longing to view this unseen treasure (source: IMDb). The sheer popularity of the film (7.4/10 rating on IMDb and 93% on Rotten Tomatoes) further emphasises our collective right to view the director’s cut. The demand is present, and it is robust.

By releasing the director's cut, Sony Pictures, MGM, and Kimberly Peirce offer not just a extended version of a loved film, but a lifeline to those of us who find comfort and commiseration in the world of Carrie. Let's remind them that their films and decisions have a direct impact on the mental health and happiness of their viewers. Please, join me in making this call for the release of the Director's cut of Carrie. Sign the petition today.
