The Post Office Horizon scandal has been the most significant miscarriage of justice in UK history, with hundreds of innocent postmasters accused and convicted due to a faulty IT system.

Sir Ed Davey, who was responsible for the Post Office as a minister in the coalition, has yet to take responsibility for his role in this scandal.

Sir Ed Davey oversaw the appointment of Paula Vennells as CEO of the Post Office, and trousered £275,000 working for Herbert Smith - the firm that defended the Post Office attempting to stop sub-postmasters getting justice.

During this time Davey was the Minister for the Post Office. A letter was sent to him from Alan Bates Justice for the Subposmaster alliance asking him to investigate and intervene. He point-blank refused to do so, leading to Mr Bates refusing to engage further.

After Davey left his position as Minister for the Post Office he became a consultant for the same Lawyers defending the Post Office - earning a very nice £275,000. How is that ethical?

At the end of 2015, he accepted a Knighthood for 'political and public service' which was announced in which was announced in 2016. Presumably, most of this was his work as a Minister for the Post Office.

We believe that it is only right that he returns his knighthood as a sign of accepting accountability for these gross injustices.

This action will not undo the damage caused but it will be a step towards acknowledging and rectifying past mistakes.

Please join us in demanding that Sir Ed Davey return his knighthood over his handling of the Post Office Horizon scandal by signing this petition today.
