The call to take action against Bashar al-Assad and his family is deeply personal for me as I've been witnessing the atrocities committed during his leadership in Syria. During his regime, there have been countless accounts and substantiated reports of human rights violations, including but not limited to mass killings, brutal torture, and the use of chemical weapons against defenseless civilians.

In a damning World Report by Human Rights Watch, it was outlined how Assad's government has continuously violated the laws of war and international humanitarian law. Systemic detentions, enforced disappearances, and large-scale torture programs were not only prevalent but conducted without remorse or repercussion (Human Rights Watch, 2021). The impunity must end. These flagrant abuses of human rights are an affront to decency and humanity.

Hence, I implore everyone to join me in demanding the revocation of protection status for Assad and his family and, in addition, launch their prosecution. The law must take its course. These crimes against humanity are too grave, too severe to be overlooked any longer.
