To us, this move feels disrespectful, a feeling which is shared across a significant portion of the Shrek fan base. The original Shrek franchise not only entertained but brought joy and laughter to millions worldwide. According to Box Office Mojo, the four films in the original franchise collectively grossed over $3 billion globally, clearly indicating its enormous popularity and the emotional connection of the audience to the original design and approach.

The announcement of Shrek 5 brings with it a radical change to the beloved character's design and story direction, a change eerily similar to the backlash received by the initial design of Sonic the Hedgehog in 2019. The Hollywood reporter stated that Sonic's initial design had caused an uproar among Sonic fans leading to a redesign that ultimately was well received.

We firmly believe that Shrek deserves the same loyalty to its original design and essence that was shown to Sonic.
