We are calling for the resignation of Delphine Ernotte, Noel Curran, directors of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and Martin Österdahl, director of the Eurovision Song Contest. Our concerns stem from a series of decisions that we believe have negatively impacted the integrity and quality of these institutions. The EBU reaches over 1 billion people across 56 countries, making it a significant cultural force in Europe (source: EBU official website). Given its influence, it is paramount that its leadership upholds high standards. Similarly, as one of the most-watched non-sporting events globally with an audience reach exceeding 180 million viewers in 2019 (source: Eurovision official statistics), the Eurovision Song Contest deserves competent leadership that respects its rich history and diverse audience.
