As a deeply concerned parent... And after speaking with the superintendent and the board of education and nothing still has been done because they informed me that the principal could have an educator fired if there was a concern from a parent. This is my second concern in 2 years with the same Dean. Things are not being told truthfully. Last month I got a call from the school police officer saying that they put a trespassing warning on me because of THIS petition. When the school board called me they said that it was never in the record. The principal should have been taken care of this issue that I was concerned about even though the assistant principal and the other Dean's helped, I have not got a phone call from the principal directly or an email back. Saying she is addressing my concerns and is going to get to the bottom of it. Instead my child still has to go to school still being bullied. Most of the videos that were posted about him have been taken down like they are trying to hide something and also he no longer wears the gold chain anymore. So obviously the petition and the concerns are getting out there but they're just wanting to change the image and not the actual structure.

I have witnessed firsthand the negative impact that the principal Andrea Talley has sheltered her favorite educators that she likes and is not thinking of the children's best interest whenever it comes to Dean Michael Martin at  Charger Academy Middle School. Located at 7050 Melvin Rd, Jacksonville, FL, our school should be a safe and nurturing environment for our children. However, recent events have shown otherwise. An incident involving my child has brought to light a disturbing pattern of behavior by Dean Martin. He has been creating a hostile environment and failing to perform his duties correctly. This is not an isolated incident but rather part of an ongoing pattern where he unfairly targets certain individuals.This issue is not only personal to me but also affects several other parents who are dissatisfied with the lack of professionalism displayed by Dean Martin. It's time we take collective action for the sake of our children's welfare and education. We demand immediate action from Duval County Public Schools (DCPS). We urge DCPS to remove Dean Michael Martin from his position and replace him with someone who can provide fair treatment and foster a positive learning environment for all students at Charger Academy Middle School.

My oldest son (8th grade) was accused of being a primary aggressor in a physical altercation last year at Charger Academy also known as Jeff Davis. Which was posted on social media and proved that he was not the primary aggressor. The dean never requested the video from the bus. Recently after filing a police report on the dean found out that in the notes he put the altercation was mutual and clearly it was not. He also stated that my son threw the first hit based on the aggressor's statement.

NOW n 2024 my middle son (6th grade) was recently improperly coded when he kicked a girl under the desk & written up for sexual harassment, then it was changed to indecent exposure. Both referrals were written by the same Dean Michael Martin. Originally the referral was supposed to be for kicking a girl under the table. The Dean had my son write an apology letter at the school stating what he did wrong which was kicking her because he thought somebody else was kicking him. My son was written up on a referral for sexual harassment and then turned into indecent exposure. The girl who wrote the statement told my son yesterday that she said nothing about it being sexual. 

Somehow it was turned into something sexual and I can only assume that it was from the Dean who wrote the report and called me?  This is a very serious situation to the point where they wanted me to do a SOS program with my child who I know was innocent. Not saying my children are always innocent/perfect because I would have expected this from my oldest son. My 6th grader wouldn't go from zero interest in a girl to 100 percent forcing her to. My son is very intimidated by women in general. When the dean called me to tell me my son was being sent home on a referral the Dean addressed himself as Dean Robert. He MUST remember me very clearly from last year since I know I was calm and he continued to be hostile.

I attached the reviews but spoke with SEVERAL OTHER PARENTS who are dissatisfied in the lack of unprofessionalism Dean Martin has shown. Most students think it's ridiculous how he is trying to be all the students "#1 favorite dean" by showing these young adults to compete with one another like he does with the other Dean's on the morning announcements. The Dean seems to only care about his image especially if he's wearing big gaki gold chains jewelry also when my son was suspended for the fight he seemed to only care about what others were saying about him but he did not care that the altercation was not backed up with facts before making assumptions.... I could care less about what anyone might think of me but I promise you I care more about these students EDUCATION!!!!! Especially if the school is closing down next year. If the Dean is still an educator he is still going to show the same patterns to other parents / students at whatever school he attends. Ask yourself would I want this educator at my child's school? There is a possibility that it could happen. Especially since the school is closing down next year. 

 I will say that I am forever grateful for Assistant Principal Dr.Bassett standing up for my son and opening up an investigation on my son's behalf being bullied via students / educators. She dressed the way she wanted to be addressed and I respected it. Made me feel like she cared about setting a positive energy/role model these kids could have. If the bad apples are fried for misconduct on students or parents.
