Demand Proper Air Pollution Management and Accountability from Indian Politicians

The Issue

The situation of air pollution in India's capital, Delhi, has crossed alarming measures, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) surpassing 1200 levels - a far cry from healthy levels of under 50. Additionally, PM 2.5 levels, fine particulate matter hazardous to health, are at severe levels. Even more concerning, such threatening conditions are not an isolated incident, rather, a recurring annual issue. Urgent intervention is the need of the hour, given its massive implications on public health. We are calling upon our elected officials to immediately declare a state of environmental emergency stemming from this critical air pollution crisis. We ask that they be held accountable for putting in place a comprehensive and effective pollution management system to resolve this public health crisis. We demand stronger air pollution regulations, enforcement of existing laws, and stricter penalties for breaches. The citizens of India should not have to compromise their health due to the lackluster response of those in power to such significant issues. Please sign this petition to urge Indian politicians to take immediate action on this urgent matter.
