Major news, after two weeks and over 1500 signatures, PG&E has finally relented and released to us the precise map of the 272 trees in jeopardy. Way to go, your signatures are working!
This maps is extremely helpful, not only for answering individual homeowner questions about impacts in their neighborhoods and giving us a more accurate picture, but also for giving us a good indication as to the general makeup of the removal.
- 67% of the trees are oaks (coastal valley and live).
- The next most common species are pine (4%), willow (3%) and redwoods (3%).
- There are 25 tree species in total.
- 22% are 30" or greater in trunk diameter.
- 56% are 10" or greater in trunk diameter.
- 76% are 8" or greater in trunk diameter.

A lot has happened lately. In the past week we have engaged in person with PG&E, city staff, and city council members. Dozens of volunteers have stepped forward with their ideas, actions, and in some cases, open wallets. People are mobilizing on trails and visiting areas of impacts. Signs have been placed on trees and around town. Every homeowner with PG&E-impacted trees were contacted with letters or visits explaining their rights to say NO to tree removal. And the city was given a detailed document outlining rationale for rejecting this pipeline deforestation.
Moreover, PG&E has indicated today they may be open to reviewing the trees in person with us on a one-by-one basis.
Our strategy is to continue pushing on two fronts by encouraging the city to stop or pause this agreement until further public review can be conducted, and by working with PG&E to significantly reduce the number and size of trees under consideration for removal.
Thank you again for your support!
