Dear Supporters,
Our movement to stop the Paramount Skydance acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery is reaching a critical stage. With shareholder approval secured, the companies are pushing for a quick closing in 2026.
But this is not a done deal yet.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) still have the power to stop this $110 billion merger. If they approve it, we will see even less diversity in news and entertainment, higher prices for streaming, and a massive loss of jobs in Hollywood.
We need your voice to make sure regulators know that the public demands competitive, independent media—not a handful of billionaires controlling what we see.
How You Can Help Right Now (5 Minutes to Make a Difference):
- 📞 Call the DOJ Antitrust Division: (202) 514-2000.
- Script: "Hello, I am calling to urge the DOJ to block the Paramount Skydance acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. This merger is anti-competitive, will harm consumers, and hurts media diversity."
- 📧 Email the FCC: Use their public comment system to express concern about the loss of independent media voices.
- 📱 Social Media Pressure: Post on X (Twitter) and LinkedIn tagging @TheJusticeDept and @FCC, using hashtags #BlockTheMerger #SaveWBD #Antitrust.
Why We Must Fight This:
This merger combines two of Hollywood's major studios, reducing competition to an dangerous level. The result will be:
- Fewer Jobs: Thousands of employees across the industry are facing layoffs due to "redundancies".
- Less Choice: Less investment in original content means fewer movies and shows, especially outside of major franchises.
- Higher Costs: A monopoly on content allows the new entity to skyrocket cable and streaming prices.
We are fighting against a "controlled system" rather than a free market. Thank you for standing up for independent media!
