The Issue

As dedicated students of Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA), we find ourselves facing a troubling and uncertain situation regarding our housing arrangements. Due to a glitch in the system and a rise in new incoming students, many of us have been informed that our housing accommodations, which are critical to our well-being and academic success, cannot be guaranteed. This issue is not isolated but affects many current students, leading to a sense of insecurity and frustration.

We, the undersigned, call on PBA University to prioritize the housing needs of its current students and resolve this issue promptly. A safe, secure, and stable living environment is not a luxury—it is an essential part of the educational experience. Without adequate housing, students are left in a state of uncertainty that disrupts their academic focus and personal well-being.

We urge PBA University to take the following actions:

Rectify the Housing System Glitch: The administrative errors related to the housing system must be resolved. We ask for a clear timeline for when these issues will be fixed to prevent further disruption.
Prioritize Current Students’ Housing Needs: Given the challenges many students are facing, the university must commit to prioritizing the housing needs of current students over new admissions to ensure all existing students have stable and safe housing for the upcoming academic year.
Provide Transparent Communication: Clear and timely communication from the Res-Life department regarding housing assignments is essential. As shown in a recent letter from a concerned parent, the confusion, delays, and lack of clarity around the housing assignment process have caused unnecessary stress for students and their families. We request regular updates and transparency regarding the status of housing assignments.
Address the Mold Issue in Dorms: Many students have reported issues with mold in their dorms this academic year, which is unacceptable. We request that the university provide better housing options for upperclassmen, as newer dorms are less likely to have these health and safety concerns and upperclassmen should not have to live through that again.
Create a Fair Housing Policy: The university must establish a housing policy that treats all students fairly, providing them with the resources and accommodations they need to succeed. Upperclassmen should have priority for newer and better-maintained housing options to ensure that they have a conducive environment for both academic and personal growth. Upperclassman should also be promised and guaranteed better housing than new admissions. If PBA doesn't have the appropriate or mold-free housing to let in more people, they should lower the admission rate and not subject their students to unsafe living.

The situation many students are facing is untenable and should not be ignored. PBA University must uphold its responsibility to provide a supportive, safe, and nurturing environment for all students. We call on the administration to act swiftly and decisively in addressing these housing concerns.

Join us in advocating for fair and adequate housing for current students. We deserve the security of knowing that our housing situation is resolved, and that we can focus on our education without the added burden of uncertainty.

Sign this petition today to ensure PBA University honors its commitment to its students and guarantees fair housing for all.
