Update to Petition on Peace Bond Warrant
As of now, I am still awaiting a response from the Law Enforcement Conduct Authority (LECA) regarding the complaint I submitted at the end of September. While the absence of an update could be viewed as a positive sign, the uncertainty surrounding the situation continues to grow. The strain this peace bond warrant places on my ability to connect with my children is worsening, making it more difficult to maintain any semblance of normalcy in my life.
Unfortunately, the momentum of this petition has slowed down significantly, and this is deeply concerning, given how critical the issue is. I understand that fighting systemic bias and corruption is a long road, but any support to revive and amplify this effort would mean the world to me and other victims in similar situations. Raising awareness and getting this issue back into the spotlight is essential for reform to occur within the Ottawa Police Service (OPS).
The silence from authorities on this matter underscores the pressing need for reform and transparency. The delay only compounds the systemic issues I’ve highlighted in my original petition—issues that continue to affect countless women who, like me, are caught in legal battles where justice feels out of reach. I fear that, as time goes on, this warrant will not only exacerbate the challenges I face but also serve as another example of how deeply entrenched biases and procedural failings can lead to further victimization of those seeking justice.
The circumstances have left me in a prolonged state of limbo. However, I remain committed to holding the OPS accountable for their role in this ongoing failure, and I sincerely hope that my case will spark the broader changes needed to ensure the protection and support of women caught in the crosshairs of an unjust legal system.
Any support, sharing, or assistance with this petition could help bring attention back to the issue, and I would deeply appreciate anyone willing to stand with me in this fight for justice.
sincerely ,
Stephanie Larocque
