A response on behalf of the NSW Education Minister, by the NSW Education Department suggesting they have received "strong advice" from NSW Health that teachers should continue to use methods that have failed, regardless of how many children in NSW schools die or suffer permanent brain injury from choking; may have never been the advice of NSW Health.
Some time ago a similar claim was made by the NSW Education Department concerning the installation of defibrillators(AEDs) in NSW schools i.e. that they had received advice from NSW Health that defibrillators (AEDs) were "unnecessary" and including this advice in its policy sent to principals. After requesting confirmation from NSW Health it was found that they had never provided any such advice to the NSW Education Department.
FOI (GIPA) requests have been lodged with the NSW Education Department and NSW Health to produce the details of this advice upon which DoE and the Minister so heavily rely. It is highly likely that NSW Health did not provide this specific advice and this is merely a poor misrepresentation by NSW Education in an attempt to avoid responsibility and liability for deaths and injuries. Of course, we will keep our followers updated on the FOIs as soon as they become available. Please keep sharing this petition with friends and parents.
