Demand Noma Donates Profits to Support Hospitality Workers
The Issue
World-famous restaurant Noma’s Los Angeles pop-up is sold out and expected to generate millions in revenue.
But a recent New York Times investigation reported allegations from dozens of former employees who described physical and psychological abuse by chef René Redzepi between 2009 and 2017.
Redzepi has issued an apology, and major sponsors have withdrawn, pledging to redirect proceeds to support hospitality workers.
If the pop-up moves forward, it should not simply continue as business as usual.
We call on Noma to donate a substantial portion of its Los Angeles pop-up profits to organizations that protect and support hospitality workers — including groups that advocate for safe workplaces, fair treatment, and worker protections.
Fine dining cannot exist without the people who power it.
Accountability must be more than words. If Noma truly acknowledges past harm, it should invest directly in the well-being of the workers who make the restaurant industry possible.
Support hospitality workers. Redirect the profits.
