Demand Noise Management and Enforcement of Curfew at Cataldi Park's Pickleball Courts
The Issue
The pickleball courts installed at Cataldi Park in San Jose have transformed our once serene neighborhood into a constant source of noise disruption, impacting both the health and quality of life of nearby residents. My family, for example, relocated to this neighborhood due to the tranquillity the park once provided. However, we now struggle with sleep disruptions due to players participating in the game past midnight and even as late as 2:30 am. The noise that begins as early as 6-7 am is a continuous cause for concern and has even triggered my migraine conditions.
I personally like pickleball and enjoy playing with family and friends however given that the courts are unsettlingly close, within 100 feet of residential properties it poses a health risk for my family not being able to sleep at night and have one meal together without hearing the crowd and pickleball noises. Despite repeated attempts, the city has been unsuccessful in sending any units to address these late-night disturbances.
Therefore, we demand that the city of San Jose take immediate actions to mitigate these issues. We believe that removing all lights near the courts and installing noise dampening barriers are viable solutions to cut down the noise emission. Furthermore, we require the enforcement of a strict curfew from 9 am to 7pm/sunset for the use of these courts.
We implore all residents affected by this issue and others understanding the importance of maintaining residential quality of life to support this cause. Please sign this petition, urging the city of San Jose to act on this growing concern promptly. This is our park, our home; let's restore its peace.
