As a dedicated NFL fan, I am personally affected by the rising costs associated with watching games. The NFL has expanded its broadcasting channels, requiring viewers like me to subscribe to multiple services such as Amazon Prime and Peacock. This shift from local channels to exclusive platforms has significantly increased the financial burden on fans who simply want to enjoy their favorite sport.

According to Statista, in 2020 alone, the average cost of cable TV per month in the U.S was about $217.42 (source: Statista). With additional subscription services required for watching NFL games, this cost is becoming unaffordable for many fans.

The essence of sports lies in its ability to unite people regardless of their socioeconomic status. However, this shift towards exclusive broadcasting is creating a divide among fans based on their ability or willingness to pay for these additional services.

We urge the National Football League (NFL) and its stakeholders to reconsider this approach and limit exclusive broadcasting rights only to platforms that are affordable and accessible for all fans across America.
