S.A. woman indicted on charges she caused her child's death

This petition is born out of a personal and heart-wrenching experience. For years, we stood beside the extended family of James Chairez, an innocent 18-month-old boy who was found deceased under his own home in San Antonio, TX. We searched tirelessly for him, advocated fervently for justice, and spent countless hours outside and inside the courthouse. The most painful part was looking into the eyes of James's mother, D’lanny Chairez - knowing she was responsible for his death.

D’lanny Chairez is currently serving a five-year term for Tampering with Evidence related to James's case. She is also charged with Injury to a Child- Intentionally Causing Bodily Injury which could lead to life imprisonment. However, this punishment does not seem enough considering her actions led to the loss of an innocent life.

No child deserves to suffer such cruelty - especially from their own parent who should be their protector and caregiver. It's time we send a clear message that such heinous acts will not be tolerated in our society.

We are calling on our judicial system in San Antonio, TX to seek life imprisonment without parole against D’lanny Chairez as retribution for her crimes against her son James Chairez.
