Demand Kristi Noem Resign for Silencing a Senator and Abusing Power

The Issue

What happened at Secretary Kristi Noem’s press conference in Los Angeles is not just alarming—it’s a flashing red warning light for our democracy.

Senator Alex Padilla, an elected representative of the people, was handcuffed and forcibly removed simply for trying to ask a question. Peaceful protestors are being met with military force. Children, including a four-year-old American battling cancer, are being deported. This is not how our country is supposed to work.

Secretary Noem has unleashed a wave of fear and intimidation in response to public outrage over inhumane immigration raids. Her declaration that she is “here to liberate the city” with federal troops and masked agents sounds more like martial law than American leadership.

She's crossed a dangerous line, and members of Congress are calling her out. Rep. Eric Swalwell said it clearly: “Kristi Noem should resign for what has happened under her watch.” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called the manhandling of Padilla “sickening,” and California Governor Gavin Newsom described her actions as “outrageous, dictatorial, and shameful.”

We cannot accept a future where federal officers arrest U.S. Marshals, silence senators, and terrorize communities with impunity. We must draw the line—now.

We call on Kristi Noem to resign immediately as Secretary of Homeland Security. The United States needs leaders who respect the Constitution, the voice of the people, and the humanity of every person within our borders.

Sign your name if you believe no one is above the law—not even the Secretary of Homeland Security.
