Demand Justice for Wrongful Deaths at Mary Washington

The Issue

My grandfather was a patient at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA, where he received a heart valve  surgery. Despite a minimal death rate of 2% for this procedure, on August 12th at 730am he was tragically pronounced dead. just ten days post-surgery. The alleged cause was a negligent error - administration of the incorrect blood type during transplantation, leading to kidney shutdown and fluid buildup. Shockingly, his chest was also left unsealed post-operation. Not only this but during the 10days he was in this hospital, he was operated on a total of 5 times! The 5th and final time was because of internal bleeding in the heart. The nurse described this as “His heart just fell apart” how does that happen?

Unfortunately, my grandfather's story is not an isolated incident. This hospital has had many lawsuits against them due to their lack of common sense, and repeated malpractice and negligence. And yet this hospital is still free to continue running while ruining families daily. A growing number of families in our community share similar heartbreaking experiences, which raises serious concerns about patient safety and quality of care at Mary Washington Hospital. Instances of such systemic failure, like incorrect blood administration, can lead to wrongful deaths and must be rectified immediately.

We need accountability. Healthcare professionals must perform their jobs with utmost care and diligence – anything less is unacceptable. We demand a thorough analysis of the hospital's standards and practices, and an immediate closure if they do not meet acceptable standards. As a community, we deserve transparency and, most importantly, we deserve safety.

Every signature on this petition brings us one step closer to preventing avoidable deaths at Mary Washington Hospital. Please sign and share this petition in solidarity with all families who had to bid early goodbyes to their loved ones due to alleged medical negligence at this hospital.
