Wang Wang wasnt just a stray. she was a living being who cared for her puppies, sought shelter and depended on the kindness of people around her. These innocent creatures were completely defenseless, brutally tortured and killed by four teenagers, who not only committed this heinous act but also filmed it, creating a horrific one-hour video that was later uploaded on social media. This despicable act highlights a disturbing trend where animal abuse is not only carried out but also celebrated for notoriety.

As a doctor and an advocate for animal welfare, I am appalled at the cruelty displayed. Such acts go beyond typical youthful indiscretion and delve into realms of severe psychological and moral concern. Not only do these actions illustrate a lack of empathy, but they also threaten to desensitize viewers and encourage similar behavior. The current incident underscores a dire need for urgent reform in the way society deals with animal cruelty.

China and all other countries possesses laws against animal abuse, yet the enforcement remains lax, often allowing perpetrators to evade serious consequences. Strengthening these laws is crucial in deterring future incidents of animal cruelty. We must advocate for stringent penalties for animal abusers and ensure these laws are strictly enforced to protect all animals. This can involve harsher fines, mandatory psychological counselling for offenders, and a public registry for individuals found guilty of repeated animal cruelty offenses.

Furthermore, we need to address the harmful trend of glorifying and sharing violent acts on social media. Platforms must be held accountable to ensure the rapid removal of such damaging content and prevent it from reaching a wider audience. Animal abuse should not become entertainment. Governments and social media companies must work together to ensure that such content is removed immediately, those responsible are punished and no individual can gain attention or profit by exploiting the suffering of animals.
