K9 officers like Chili are more than just animals; they are vital members of our public safety teams. They undergo extensive training to serve and protect our communities, all of which is funded by us, the taxpayers. Their dedication and service demand our respect and legal protection.

It is appalling that a double standard seems to exist when handling the death of K9 officers compared to human officers or civilians. If a normal citizen were to harm or kill a K9 officer, they would face severe legal consequences. K9 Deputy Chili entrusted his life to his handlers and the community, and we owe it to him to seek and demand justice for his untimely death.
