Stormy, formerly named Nutmeg, is a bay mare with a star on her head, and Ghost, who used to be named Silver, is a 20 year old flea-bitten gray gelding. Both horses are partially blind but can see shadows.
Both of them originally came to Twist of Fate when the woman who had them passed away and Ashley DiFelice took them in sometime in 2020. The woman's nephew heard about what happened to TOF and contacted some of the rescues that were handling the aftermath to volunteer to take back Nutmeg and Silver, but at that point the two horses had already made their way to their home. I unfortunately don't have older photos of either of them from their time at TOF, but upon their rescue last July Nutmeg had a body score of 4, and Silver had a body score of 3.
The main concern at the time was to get them out of there and to get them to a healthy weight. Both were taken in by Acres at Magnolia (@acresatmagnolia) in Farmingdale, New Jersey. Stormy and Ghost are now beautifully healthy and have adapted very well to their new surroundings despite being partially blind. They are very bonded after going through so much terror at the hands of Ashley, but are happy to have each other as a best friend and they help each other find their way around.
If you would like to donate to Acres at Magnolia to support the care of Ghost and Stormy, you can donate via PayPal here. You can also give them a follow on Instagram and Facebook!
Thank you to everyone at Magnolia for taking such good care of these two friends, and thanks to YOU for following along with every animal's story.
Ashley DiFelice's next court date still has not been announced. I have emailed the prosecution team a couple of times already to see when it will be scheduled or why it is being delayed but so far haven't heard anything. I'll update as soon as I know anything though! Please continue to share the petition in the meantime. Thank you!
