Luna (formerly known as Lady) and Star (formerly Starlight) are two beautiful horses rescued from the former Twist of Fate "sanctuary".

Lady is a Fjord mare, and Starlight is a Haflinger mare. A Fjord horse is a small but strong horse originally from the mountainous region of Western Norway. They're known to be agile and always dun in color, with five variations in shade. Because they're so strong and small, they're typically exploited as "work" horses, used for plowing fields or hauling wood. Haflinger horses, also known as  Avelignese, are originally from Austria and Northern Italy. They're relatively small, are always chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail, have distinctive gaits that are described as energetic but smooth, and are well-muscled yet elegant. They're typically exploited for riding or used as "show" horses.

I don't know much about Lady & Starlight's past - Lady arrived to TOF with an old carpal injury, and they were saved from an auction together but I don't know when. I also don't know how long they were with Ashley - there were no posts or photos of them on the old TOF Patreon, though there may have been some info about them on the TOF Instagram when it was active.

On the survivor list Lady & Starlight were both estimated to be around 15 and 20 years old, but it was discovered that they're actually both much older than originally thought. Luna is in her late 20's and Star is in her 30's. Star has no teeth and she also has Fecal Water Syndrome and can't process hay, so she therefore lives on a mash diet. Lady's original notes when she was rescued from Twist of Fate also mentioned her large left knee.

Both were taken in by Kinder Way Berry Farm & Sanctuary (@kinderwayberryfarmandsanctuary) and given their new names. As with most of the animals from TOF that were rescued from Ashley DiFelice and went to new homes, there were no medical records or histories with these two either. Kinder Way took them to the vet upon their arrival though and monitors their health and makes sure that they have everything that they need. Luna and Star are well-fed, happy, and enjoy their big open fields and their new animal and human friends and family.

If you would like to support Kinder Way, please give them a follow @kinderwarberryfarmandsanctuary! They're also a smaller sanctuary AND they post a lot of photos of their gorgeous mountain views. If you'd like to make a donation to support them in their life-saving work, you can do so via their website, Venmo (@kinderwayfarmsanctuary) or PayPal (erika9067@hotmail.com). You can make a monthly donation in any amount (even $1 per month helps!) by joining their Patreon, and they also have a GoFundMe set up for prepping the sanctuary for winter. They're a little under halfway there! You can also book a stay at their yurt (!!) in Middlebury, Vermont through HipCamp!! The retreat is set up on 125 acres of fields and forest with 7 acres of pick-your-own blueberries, a pond, a river for swimming, plus allll the animals at the sanctuary that love attention and treats. You can read more about it and book your stay here

Thank you to Kinder Way for taking in these ladies! We're so happy that they survived and are finally safe, happy and loved.

Thank you for being here.

Ashley DiFelice's next court date still has not been announced. I have emailed the prosecution team a couple of times already to see when it will be scheduled or why it is being delayed but so far haven't heard anything. I'll update as soon as I know anything though! Please continue to share the petition in the meantime. Thank you!
