Demand Justice for Dogs: Overturn Inhumane SC Decision
The Issue
I have always been close to dogs. I lost one after the event of Diwali, and I suspect a dog catcher took him. My heart aches thinking about what might have happened to him and if he's even alive. I have put a tremendous amount of care into raising my current dog, and neither he nor I deserve to live in fear simply because our government chooses to neglect proper sterilization and care for stray dogs. It's disheartening to see them use dogs in army and police operations, yet dismiss their welfare.
The recent Supreme Court decision against animal welfare laws is a grave injustice not only to the animals but to those who care deeply about them. A video showing a man mercilessly throwing dogs from a height has surfaced, adding to the horrors dog lovers are witnessing. This act is a blatant display of cruelty and inhumanity.
The Supreme Court has overstepped its bounds by making decisions that harm these innocent creatures. Dogs have the right to roam freely in their colonies, a right that shouldn't be stripped away from them. The ruling disregards the welfare and the rights of animals who are trusting and loyal companions to many of us.
Your voice and your signature can be the change we need to protect these voiceless beings. It is crucial to call for mass civil disobedience to show our disagreement with this unjust decision. This petition aims to bring awareness to this issue, urging the authorities to reconsider and overturn the harmful ruling.
Stand with us in advocating for dogs. Sign this petition to demand justice and a fair chance for these innocent animals to lead a life free from harm and exploitation.
(II) The Supreme Court’s order to round up all Delhi street dogs is inhumane, unscientific, and risks public safety.
Rabies is caused by lack of vaccination, not dog presence — proven humane solutions like CNVR (catch-neuter-vaccinate-release) work worldwide.
Shelters are overcrowded or nonexistent, causing trauma, starvation, and aggression in dogs. Removal also creates a “vacuum effect,” inviting unvaccinated dogs and increasing rabies risk.
Community dogs protect neighborhoods, hold cultural and religious significance, and play an ecological role. Cruelty against them is ignored, while many strays are abandoned pets — abandonment must be criminalized and adoption regulated with vaccination requirements.
Children and adults often provoke or harm dogs without consequence. Dangerous pets should be trained, and owners held accountable.
Animal activists are experts, not enemies. Police brutality against them undermines public trust.
This is not blind dog-lover protest — it’s a call for balanced, humane, and science-based policy to protect humans and animals alike.
