Coco's story is heartbreaking. She was contained within four walls with no companionship or proper care for 365 long days. This level of neglect goes beyond any acceptable standards and raises serious questions about our local SPCA's commitment to animal welfare.

The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies reports that there were over 81,000 investigations into potential animal cruelty cases across Canada in 2017 (source: CFHS). Yet despite these alarming numbers, it seems that our local SPCA failed to intervene in time to prevent Coco's suffering.

We must hold those responsible accountable and ensure this never happens again. We need stricter regulations on pet ownership and stronger enforcement from our local SPCA. It is time we stand up as a community against such blatant disregard for life.
