Demand Justice for Alexandra Cordoba

The Issue

On April 15, 2025, Alexandra Cordoba — a beloved daughter, sister, and integral member of the Gardena community — was tragically shot and killed by officers of the Gardena Police Department. She was unarmed, seeking assistance, yet she met with unspeakable violence in her moment of need. Alexandra’s death has sent shockwaves through our community, leaving us heartbroken and questioning the integrity of those sworn to protect us.

Alexandra was a remarkable woman who devoted her life in service to others. From her early days as a cadet to her years as a nurse and later a counselor, she pour her heart into helping the community with unwavering compassion and strength. Her legacy of care and commitment continues to inspire everyone who knew her

This devastating incident is not an isolated event. It is symptomatic of a larger, systemic issue within the Gardena Police Department, characterized by a disturbing pattern of excessive force and a failure to uphold public safety and trust. Alexandra, who had a bright future ahead of her and was treasured by her family and community, lost her life in a manner that demands accountability and transparency.

We call upon the California Department of Justice and Attorney General to launch an independent investigation into the Gardena Police Department. The community of Gardena, alongside citizens from across California, are entitled to answers, justice, and meaningful reform. It is crucial that those responsible are held accountable, and that measures are put in place to prevent such tragedies in the future.

In Alexandra’s memory, and for the sake of our collective safety and justice, we implore local lawmakers to support this investigation and prioritize the implementation of mandatory training and accountability measures for law enforcement officers.

Together, we can work towards a justice system that truly protects and serves all members of our community. Please join us in demanding justice for Alexandra Cordoba by signing this petition and urging our leaders to act decisively.
