Demand justice for ʻAiea High School's #78
The Issue
ʻAiea High School senior, known to his teammates as Kaiwakaulani “Tuki Boy” Vaa #78, is facing an unjust suspension that threatens to overshadow what should be the highlight of his high school football career. During a recent game against Farrington, #78 was involved in an incident where an opposing player struck him multiple times to where he defended himself and was then ejected from the game and subsequently suspended from playing in an upcoming critical game against Waiʻanae.
Video evidence from the game supports the claim that #78 did not provoke but acted in self-defense after being struck multiple times. This raises serious questions about the fairness and accuracy of the judgment against him. Unfortunately, despite this evidence, his appeal has been denied, leaving him ineligible to play in his final high school season football game — a time that should be celebrated and remembered fondly.
We are not asking for special treatment for #78; only a fair and thorough review of the incident that respects the rights of every high school athlete.
We call on the appeals committee and the overseeing bodies responsible for the decision to revisit the evidence with an unbiased and an opened mind. This is not only a matter of ensuring justice for one player but also about upholding the integrity of the sport, ensuring that all players are treated with fairness and respect.
Let’s unite as a community to demand that 'Aiea High School’s senior Kaiwakaulani “tuki boy” Vaa #78 be given the chance to finish his season. We urge you to sign this petition, adding your voice to the call for a fair review of his case. Help us ensure that fairness prevails and that #78 is allowed to play the sport he loves. Sign this petition now to LET #78 FINISH HIS SENIOR SEASON!
