Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) is crying out for help. As a person with deep ties to the region, I am devastated by the ongoing violence against innocent civilians, including children as young as two and the elderly up to 86 years old. Since June 5, numerous lives have been tragically lost while they were advocating for their fundamental rights. This petition seeks to put pressure on the Pakistani government to improve the human rights situation in Kashmir.

The stories coming out of Kashmir are heart-wrenching. Entire communities are living in fear of indiscriminate violence, and children no longer have the sanctuary of safety within their own homes. My friends and relatives in the region have shared with me terrifying accounts of arbitrary arrests, beatings, and even killings of peaceful protesters. These are citizens asking for nothing more than their rightful freedoms, yet they face horrific reprisals for raising their voices.

The deteriorating human rights situation cannot be ignored. Every human life is precious, and we cannot stand idly by as injustice reigns over Kashmir. Reports from human rights organizations consistently highlight the severity of the situation – forced disappearances, the use of pellet guns, and misinformation spread to vilify those who simply dare to demand their rights. Children are robbed of education and the elderly of their dignity – a scenario no one should ever endure.

What we are witnessing is a blatant violation of human rights protections promised by international laws, and it is imperative for the international community to exert its influence. Governments worldwide should not only condemn these actions but also engage in meaningful dialogue with Pakistan to secure safety and justice for Kashmir’s civilians.

And Pakistan has also stopped the food  Kashmiris for two months, due to which Kashmir is facing a shortage of food, medicines are not being delivered, patients who are being shot by the Pakistani military are not being provided with medical assistance, medicines are not being given to them, those patients who are heart patients or diabetes patients, the Pakistan military is occupying the medicines or hospitals in Kashmir, due to which Kashmiris are failing to take many medicines and many elderly people who have heart problems or any other problems have not received their medicines.

And if someone goes to the hospital or any other medical store to get medicine, they are beaten and chased away, or they are arrested by the Pakistan military or police or the ISI and made to disappear. And till today, all the people who were kidnapped from June 5th to today, they have not been presented in court by the Pakistan army. The law of the world is that a person is presented in court within 24 hours or 48 hours.
