On the fateful date of June 16th, a beautiful soul, Tori Dunn, fell victim to a brutal and horrifying crime. Tori was murdered within the confines of her own home in a random act of savagery that should never have been allowed to occur. A well-known and violent felon, Adam Mann, has been charged with her murder. This was not an isolated incident associated with Mr. Mann, but one of two violent crimes he stands accused of within merely three weeks. Both committed while he was on probation and bail for other offenses. 

Despite Mann's clear disregard for the law, his heinous criminal history, and his unstable living conditions, the judicial system still saw fit to release him back into society. Inadequate monitoring and evaluative measures of the potential harm associated with Mann were detrimental oversights that culminated in Tori Dunn's tragic death. We must demand answers and accountability. We must endeavor to understand the reasoning behind the decision to release such a character back into society, and more importantly, how we can avoid such a grave transgression in the future.

We implore our legal system to undertake a comprehensive internal review of the decisions and legal procedures leading up to the tragedy that has befallen Tori. This review should provide accountability and answers to questions such as: How was it decided that this man be released? How will we avoid this mistake in the future? Why was Bill C48 not leveraged? How was the reverse onus considered? 

In demanding answers, we work towards preventing future occurrences of the same. We beg you to remember Tori Dunn - remember her life that was so needlessly and cruelly cut short, and remember the failings that led to her untimely demise. It is past time for us to put an end to this alarming trend by demanding accountability and change within our justice system. UPDATE #1

All Canadian Premiers addressed a letter to the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. They asked that the federal government revisit bail reform as Bill C-48 is not yielding the results they had hoped for. The Federal Government issued a response pushing all responsibility back to the Provincial Government. This is NOT the time for government bodies blaming one another. We are seeking TRUTH. We need a GUARANTEE that there will be a public inquiry following Adam Mann's sentencing. The public deserves to know what happened.
