Demand Improvements for Animal Conditions at Aquaterratopia
The Issue
As a devoted enthusiast in the reptile keeping hobby, I recently visited Aquaterratopia in Crowley, Texas, in hopes of supporting what seemed to be a good family owned business. Instead, i left with a heavy heart and a deep urge to instigate change. The animals in this facility are living in substandard, appalling conditions that no living creature should ever endure. Reptiles, cohabited in dangerous assortments, are surviving within enclosures smeared with waste and mottled with mold. Tragically, there were even lifeless tarantulas still trapped within their cages while other visibly emaciated reptiles too weak to protest their predicament were also evident.
These animals cannot voice their despair, their suffering, their plea for a better life. We, however, can speak up for them. Every living creature deserves a suitable, clean, and safe environment, but the reptiles at Aquaterratopia are alarmingly denied this.
Over 9 million reptiles live in households within the United States (source: American Pet Products Association). The knowledge and understanding of reptile husbandry have developed significantly over the years, and there is absolutely no reason to allow such neglectful conditions to continue.
This is not just another cause for me; it's a commitment to protect vulnerable creatures who cannot fend for themselves. We all have the power to influence change, to promote animal welfare, and ensure that every living creature is cared for with compassion, respect, and in compliance with ethical practices that promote their well-being.
I implore you to join me in addressing this grave issue. Let us be the voice of these defenseless animals at Aquaterratopia. Please sign this petition and demand immediate action be taken to improve the conditions in which these precious animals are forced to live.
I am adding photos that i took during my visit on 3/28, in hopes that this will encourage you to not only sign this petition, but spread the word. We need to bring awareness to this business, and hold them accountable for these miserable conditions they’re forcing these animals to live in.
