I am a 13-year-old girl in the 7th grade who wants to live a normal life without anyone, including the government, controlling what I can and cannot do. However, I strongly feel that the current leadership from President Donald John Trump has been hindering my freedom and causing immense pain to me and the fellow Americans. Contrary to his election promise of making America great again, his actions suggest otherwise. 

Under Trump’s administration, America's international reputation has seen significant downgrade due to controversial policies and a lack of diplomatic tact. According to a study by Pew Research Center (2019), only 30% of foreigners surveyed expressed a positive image of the United States. Furthermore, his response to the nationwide civil rights protests in 2020 has been highly criticized for inciting violence rather than promoting peace and unity.

Moreover, his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in the United States having the highest number of cases and deaths worldwide, has further proven his incompetence. As reported by Johns Hopkins University, as of December 2020, the U.S has over 20 million confirmed cases and nearly 350,000 deaths due to the virus.

It hasn’t even been almost a year yet since President Trump has been in office, and he has already started a trade war with some countries like Canada, for example. Canada had threatened to shut off our power if Trump continued his unwanted and unnecessary actions. But this isn’t the Americans fault, it is President Trump’s fault. What he is doing is unacceptable, why should the Americans of the U.S. suffer because of Trump’s actions?

The trade war has also affected Americans tremendously, by rising prices on stuff we may purchase daily online. As we all know, shopping apps like Temu or SHEIN for example, are popular because they sell things at great deals and cheap prices. But due to everything being made and coming from China, those prices would rise because of the tariffs that continuously increase because of Trump placing higher tariffs on China. The trade war also has affected Americans (mainly adults who work jobs and own a house), by the rising of the prices on bills. For example, say if some of the electrical power in a home is based or sourced in Canada, due to Donald Trump placing tariffs on Canada, then the price on the electrical bill would be higher. This would lead to adults paying more, but also leaving adults with less money to purchase basic necessities needed for every day life. Donald John Trump has promised us lower prices, but has he still ever done that yet? No, he hasn’t.

Therefore, I call upon my fellow Americans to demand an immediate removal of President Trump from office. Let's reclaim our freedoms, our values, our unity, and our global reputation. Let's put humanity before politics. Sign this petition today and help us get closer to this desired change.
