My son and other men are currently incarcerated and suffering because of the direct mismanagement and mishandling by the Correctional officers (COs) at the hands of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Under the direction of Secretary Jeff Macomber since 2022, Jeff Macomber has shown incompetence and therefore it has been a dramatic and disturbing increase in violent incidents within our prison system. My fear, as a parent who is suffering the pain of seeing their child mistreated, is magnified due to the defamation of character and mistreatment that inmates endure by the Correctional officers and other inmates, my son included. I’m sorry CO’S if you get offended, but you (crooked ones only) are part of the problem aswell! Don’t act so innocent, Cos are a product of their environment! This is so out of hand that even Correctional officer are getting hurt or killed! Prisons are not a Rehabilitation Center!!! They are Dungeons!

Because I am speaking on this matter CO’s are continuously Retaliating against my son and many other inmates are being defamed of character towards my son, and my son and other onmatesis being assaulted at every prison he goes to under watch cdcr in violation of 8th Amendment rights ( is to give adequate medical care and to protect an inmate if they know he’s being assaulted by other inmates and 14th amendment rights are as follows:  is to offer protection to incarcerated individuals from discrimination and unequal treatment based solely on their race, sex, or creed.

Thousand of inmates are going through this but are to scared to speak up thinking it would get better! It only gets worse if nothing done! This issue extends beyond our personal grief, permeating into a broader, systemic dysfunction. The introduction of convicted murderers into the mainline with medium and low-risk felons has resulted in a surge of violent incidents. Not only are inmates paying the price with their lives falling victim to these escalating patterns of violence. This situation has reached a point where it can be likened to war battlefields, endangering the lives of those both inside and outside the cells. 

We plea for urgent and comprehensive reform in policies of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Our penitentiaries should not be war zones. They should not be places where those serving time face severe mistreatment or end up increasing their level of risk.  The need for change is evident, the time for it is now.

The lives of thousands of inmates, family members in California are on the line. As voters and tax payers, we urge our elected officials to address this unacceptable state of affairs urgently and thoroughly. There is no time for complacency or silence. Please consider not just the voices of us, the parents whose hearts are breaking for their children, but of those who are unheard within prison walls. Be their voice. Advocate for safe and humane conditions for all individuals and family members in our prison system.
