Demand Immediate Action Against Drug Peddlers & Corrupt Officials in Mira Road!
The Issue
To,
Honorable Home Minister of Maharashtra,
Commissioner of Police, Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar,
Municipal Commissioner, MBMC,
Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB),
Subject: Urgent Action Against Drug Peddler Salman & Officials Shielding the Drug Trade in Mira Road
Respected Authorities,
We, the concerned citizens of Mira Bhayandar, demand immediate action against the open and unchecked sale of brown sugar (garad/smack) in the MBMC-owned ground near Hatkesh 22 No. Lane. Despite multiple complaints, local police officers and municipal officials have ignored this growing menace, allowing drug peddlers to operate fearlessly.
Shockingly, the key peddler, Salman, along with his associates Wasim, Amaan, Zubair, and Omi, has openly boasted that no police action can be taken against them. Even more disturbing, they have threatened journalists who recorded video evidence of their illegal activities, proving their deep-rooted influence over law enforcement.
Despite DCP Prakash Gaikwad’s prior notices against drug peddlers, enforcement has been weak, raising serious concerns about corruption and political protection behind this inaction. Meanwhile, MBMC officers who swiftly demolish hawkers' stalls near Mira Road station remain silent when it comes to drug dealers operating on MBMC-owned land.
This negligence and complicity by the police and municipal authorities are destroying young lives and fueling crime in our neighborhoods. We demand the following immediate actions:
Our Demands:
1. Immediate arrest of Salman and his associates under the NDPS Act and IPC for drug trafficking and criminal intimidation.
2. Investigation into Kashigaon Detention Centre officer for their alleged inaction and links with peddlers.
3. Suspension and prosecution of police officers refusing to register cases against drug dealers despite public complaints.
4. Strict action against MBMC officials allowing illegal drug activities on municipal land.
5. NCB intervention to dismantle the entire network of drug suppliers and protect whistleblowers from threats.
Applicable Laws Violated:
IPC 120B (Criminal Conspiracy) – Coordinated drug trade.
IPC 353 (Assault or Criminal Force to Deter Public Servant) – Threats to journalists.
IPC 506 (Criminal Intimidation) – Threats to delete video evidence.
NDPS Act, 1985 - Section 21 & 27A – Drug trafficking & financing illegal trade.
We refuse to let Mira Bhayandar turn into a haven for drug dealers due to police apathy and corruption. If immediate action is not taken, we will escalate this matter to higher authorities, the media, and the judiciary.
We urge Hon. Home Minister, the Commissioner of Police, and NCB to take strict action against both the peddlers and the officials shielding them before more innocent lives are destroyed.
