The Issue

The recent Class 10 CBSE Mathematics Board Examination 2026 has left a significant number of students and parents in distress. As a student who sat for this crucial exam, the experience has been overwhelmingly stressful, particularly because it was our first board examination. The disparity in difficulty levels among different sets of the exam papers is not justifiable and has adversely impacted our confidence and performance.

Specifically, for set 30/1/n, the questions were relatively straightforward and closely followed the NCERT syllabus, allowing students to attempt them with a fair degree of confidence. However, sets 30/2/n, 30/3/n, and 30/4/n posed an enormous challenge with questions that many of us found excessively difficult. This inconsistency in the difficulty level has led to feelings of unfairness and anxiety among students who received the latter sets, causing unnecessary stress during an already challenging period.

It is essential to highlight that the education system should aim to evaluate students on a level playing field. The undue variation in question difficulty across sets does not align with this principle and undermines the effort and preparation put into studying for these exams by countless students. We need to ensure that all students are assessed equally, and that no one is at a disadvantage simply due to the set of questions they received.

The solution we propose is to extend grace marks to students who appeared for the more challenging sets or to apply a more lenient marking scheme that compensates for this discrepancy. This adjustment would help restore fairness and ensure every student's hard work is duly recognized. Furthermore, it would alleviate the added anxiety and stress brought on by an unpredictably difficult examination, ultimately providing a just outcome for all concerned students.

By signing this petition, you stand in support of educational fairness and advocate for a balanced assessment system that accords every student the opportunity to succeed. Please lend your voice to this cause and help us urge the CBSE board to take immediate corrective action. Sign and share this petition to ensure students receive the fair evaluation they rightfully deserve.
