Happy Saturday! We have 66,521 signers and 344,441 petition views. Thank you all for supporting this cause to bring awareness to the taxation embedded in our electric bills. Fight for the change. Please keep sharing! Love to see 100,000 signers!
Rally at the capitol! Everyone had to work or couldn't take the day off this Thursday, Sept 12, 2024 including your's truly. Some called it a good turnout with about 100 people, including the good Senator Jeff Gordon and Senate Minority Leader Stephen Harding.
Not one Democrat showed up for the rally. In fact, a heartless statement jointly made by Democratic Senate President Martin Looney - New Haven and Democratic Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff - "The only thing smaller than the turnout for this political stunt is the handful of dollars the Republican bailout of utility companies will save ratepayers," reported by the Register Citizen
This is what our politicians think of their constituents! This is one asinine comment!
They turn this crisis as a way to insult the Republicans who have been working hard to address this concern and once again, demonstrated their oblivious sentiment and a total disregard to the pain and, once again, a total disconnect with the middle class and all the ratepayers of Connecticut!
Review the local coverage TV of the rally! Click on the links below for the videos.
One note that Gov Lamont did state that he will get a committee to see what ARPA funds are available for us! "One small step for ........." well, it's a start.
No special session is going to happen this year. That's a given. Next year, hopefully major changes will occur. But these changes will have to start in November by YOU!
I will continue to state: This is biparisan. I know..... I know...... I am trashing democrats... ah... no.... all I am giving are the facts! I still don't care if you have a D or an R next to your name. This affects everyone. We need to see what other leadership can do for us!
We need to think of our families and financial stability this November when you go to the polls. Seniors on fixed income need every penny. According to google Connecticut is home to 823,529 people age 60 or older — 23% of the state's total population.
We can't keep getting shafted by this tax of 41 line items baked into our bills!
The rally at the Capitol's purpose did its job! It made awareness of taxes hidden within our electric bill, baked in by unelected pura officials and our elected leaders.
For one voice there at the capitol, each one of you represented 1 thousand voices that couldn't make it. Kuddos to Cindy Jordan. This was not an easy thing to do.
The rally did two things today!
1) It made all the local news and brought back awareness of this injustice!
2) It demonstrated how heartless and uncaring the Majority leaders really are!
I leave you with a comment from Darlene Gugliotti on facebook.
"I’ve lived in Connecticut my entire life. My community is here. I’m going to retire in a few years and I’m scared I may not be able to afford to stay here. I shouldn’t have to leave the place I love because our state is being mismanaged and taxing us to death.
At one time we were known as a rich state with a lot of manufacturing and jobs. A great place to live. Why do other states have no income tax, no bottle tax, lower taxes for elderly who do not have children in schools, lower electric bills, lower housing taxes, ect…"
I hear you Darlene. We all hear you!
Thanks again for all your support!
