Demand Global Recognition of the Armenian Genocide

The Issue

We are Armenians, deeply connected to our heritage's history, and we ask for your signature today to address a grievous denial of an immense human tragedy. This issue is personal for us, as descendants of survivors, and it seeks to correct an international blind spot on an event of monstrous proportions: The Armenian Genocide.

This matter goes beyond individual heritage and delves into the annals of human behave itself. In the early 20th century, around 1.5 million Armenians were systematically killed right in their ancestral homeland, an equivalent of today's genocide. The Ottoman Government initiated this travesty, where unsuspecting Armenians faced deportation, forced labor, massacres, and starvation death marches into the Syrian desert. The recognition of this genocide is not just about acknowledging historical facts but is also about thwarting the dangerous precedent where such heinous acts can go unrecognized ("The Armenian Genocide", Encyclopedia Britannica).

Though several countries and states have recognized the Armenian Genocide, there are many, including significant stakeholders in global politics, who have either avoided taking a clear stance or actively denied its occurrence. This indifference and disavowal is not just an attack on the memory of those innocent victims but also a threat to the larger cause of human rights and justice worldwide.

Together, we can help mend this historic wrong. By signing this petition, you push for all countries worldwide to honor and recognize the Armenian Genocide as a step towards larger global accountability. By acknowledging and learning from our past, we can build a future where such atrocities may hopefully never occur again. Please sign this petition now.
